"The Kau'Baya Sept - meaning "Royal Jewel" in T'au - is one rarely seen on the forefront of conflict with the Tau Empire's enemies. Members of their Sept have served as elite guards for Ethereals and top-level Tau diplomats. They are not, however, entirely absent from the battlefield. Indeed, their superior training and sometimes technology allow them a distinct advantage over their foes. Whilst the Sept serves a clear purpose to the public within the Tau Empire, they have another, hidden meaning, buried deep in the history of their Sept. The Kau'Baya Tau believe that there was a first Ethereal by the name of 'Laun'Vao', or 'Father Guide', who led the primitive Tau people into a new age of technological magnificence. The first Fire Warrior - at the time, named as such for his proficiency with a flaming bow - was said to have taken down the sun itself and offered it to Laun'Vao as a gift of his devotion. The sun became the Glorystone, an ancient artefact bearing psychic powers and an innate connection to the Warp. Laun'Vao was said to have been corrupted by the stone, and in his final plea before succumbing to the corruption of the Chaos Gods, Laun'Vao pleaded with the Fire Warrior to uphold the mantra of the Greater Good, and to kill him out of mercy. The Fire Warrior obliged, and the Kau'Baya Sept was said to have been created in its earliest form, acting as guards of the Glorystone. So devoted were they to the prospect of the Greater Good, they were immune to the temptations and sacrilege of the Chaos Gods. The Fire Warrior, when his duty was completed, went into hibernation in the earliest Crisis Battle Suit ever created. It is said he remains at the centre of Kauyan Bash'n, the capital of the Kau'Baya Sept, and that he will awaken to lead the Sept to victory against an implacable foe when the time comes."
