"Maladan Victus inherited the title of clan leader after his mother, Sirilia Victus, was killed by a rogue Jedi. Unlike others who may have been put in his position, Maladan did not blame the Jedi; he understood that the Mandalorians and Jedi had been enemies for millennia, and instead attributed the Jedi's actions as discontent with the oppressive and stagnant Galactic Republic. Maladan was left tending to the clan around six months before the declaration of Order 66 - a time during which the conflicts between the Separatists and the Grand Army of the Republic were coming to a head. He strove to build up his clan - spies and informants had made him aware that some great event was on the horizon, although he knew not what. When Order 66 was declared, Maladan realised the folly of the Jedi Order and agreed to shelter Jedi hiding from the Clone armies and their new lord, Darth Vader. When the Republic was replaced with the Galactic Empire, which displayed more conquering tendencies than their predecessor, Maladan entered talks with Terroid Gaza and the two formed a very close alliance in order to stave off attempts by the Empire onto their territory. They combined their fleets, but even so, Maladan's top strategists were not certain they could guard so broad a territory as the combined Gaza and Victus clan regions. Thus, Maladan made an executive decision to issue a mass recall of all civilians, Mandalorians, troopers and other inhabitants of these outer regions into the core worlds of Victus-Gaza space. The stronghold world of Victus Clan - Dicitus VII - received over three million refugees. For a planet mostly uninhabitable except in very isolated regions, this was a tremendous load. Maladan was questioned for his strategic decision, but when the Empire began making threats, the combined might of the full populations of Gaza and Victus was enough to motivate them to not attack for the time being. Maladan was relieved to have the momentary respite, but knew that the Empire would attack when they had the chance. Some of his strategists suggested sending out raiding parties to bait Empire forces and to weaken them, but Maladan, who knew full well it would likely be poorly armed civilians making up these raiding parties, refused to shirk his responsibilities and moral obligation to those who had been entrusted to his care. He instead focused on fortifying and fleet building - if the Empire attacked, they would have to fight through every man, woman, and child to take the stronghold. His people were willing, and so was he, to lay down lives to beat back the forces of the Galactic Empire. His informants reported a fleet massing near Coruscant which included a huge prototype Star Dreadnought named "The Albatross." Maladan knew even the formidable fleets of the combined Gaza and Victus forces were no match for this new weapon, and hurriedly tried to find solutions. When Mandalore the Crusader sent out a call to unite all of the disparate Mandalorians in the galaxy, Maladan saw this as the one real option to strike back against the Empire and ensure the safety of his people. He and Terroid Gaza took the full might of their fleets - which included a handful of Keldabe battleships, a number of Vengeance-class frigates and Crusader-class corvettes, as well as some independent vessels - and met with Mandalore the Crusader. His battleship, towing behind it a tremendous kill, illustrated to Maladan that the Crusader was worthy of his allegiance. Terroid, ever faithful to Maladan since their duel some five years prior, joined the Crusader as well. When the Hyperspace malfunction occurred, Maladan refused to leave the Crusader's side, his strong sense of loyalty and honour telling him to die fighting beside his Mandalore, rather than to abandon him in an effort to survive. Terroid desperately tried to convince his old friend, but Maladan would not budge. Terroid left the Crusader - an act Maladan considered grievous betrayal, and he hardened as a result. Maladan now stands beside the Crusader, attempting to find a solution to their predicament and to use his influence as a highly respected clan leader to attract support to their cause."
