Keeping Up With The Blogians

Short one today as it's a bit late, but I had this on my mind before heading to sleep - hell of a thing, trying to keep track of social media! Now that I'm actively applying for jobs, I noticed the cobwebs beginning to accumulate on pages like my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, er...well, parts of this blog too, as I realised the about me page is very out of date. It occurs to me if an employer looked up these things they'd get five different pictures of five different me's - one where I wanted to be a writer, one where I wanted to be a Lego model designer, one where I wanted to work in the games industry, one where I want to be some kind of useful info sharer on the side, and one where I actually do the copywriting/non-fictional stuff they're probably looking for.

The trick is, where to start with organising this all? My LinkedIn does cite my projects, but only the game dev ones - which happen to be the most impressive things I can put on a LinkedIn site, at least as far as I'm aware with my limited experience creating LinkedIn profiles. Facebook was only ever a formality for University and for buying Lego, Instagram is just for my fleeting Bionicle hobby, Twitter is just for lurking around (mostly) and occasionally taking part in the milder discourse on there, and this blog is really the best place to see active, up-to-date David. This blog, which...nobody reads, except, maybe, after seeing it on a job app. That's why there's no swearing. Yet.

I really should get this under control, because this blog is actually on my portfolio now, and my LinkedIn is listed there, too. Maybe tomorrow. Or the day after. Or never, depending on if an employer even cares to that extent. Maybe if in six years I'm still making models on the internet for a living, I'll figure it's probably to do with the "About me" page being a bit out of date and I'll give it a new coat of paint.

For now, snoozing. I will fix it, Davids of Past, Present, and Future. Promise.
